But before we select any trade, we also want to know what’s driving the price.  

Fundamentally, we look to see why a company, commodity or index is attracting interest. This can impact the potential returns and time frame of a trade. 

Having identified a chart pattern and the fundamental drivers, the next step is to determine the potential risk and reward. There’s no point doing a trade if there’s less upside than downside. We only want to put money at risk when there’s potential for real gains.
